Release notes
What shipped in each public version of Ainola.
Version 1.1.0
3 September 2026
Waves plugins are now visible
- Waves installs only a shell, WaveShell, into the standard plugin folders, so your actual Waves plugins never showed up anywhere. Ainola now finds them in the Waves folder inside /Applications and lists them as a new Waves format, with vendor, version and size like any other plugin.
- You can enable or disable individual Waves plugins and put them in your own modes.
- Sibelius mode is unchanged. It switches off the WaveShell, which already removes every Waves plugin from Sibelius in one move.
The list keeps itself up to date
- Install or remove a plugin while Ainola is open and the list refreshes on its own, so there is no need to hit Rescan.
- Staged changes you have not applied yet are never lost to a refresh.
Fewer password prompts
- When a change does not need admin rights, Ainola just makes it. You are only asked for a password when the folder actually requires it.
Version 1.0.0
First release, 31 May 2026
Manage every plugin format
- Enable or disable AU, VST, VST3, CLAP and AAX in one click. Plugins are never uninstalled and every change is reversible.
- Scans all standard macOS plug-in locations, plus any custom folders you add.
One-click workflows
- Sibelius mode turns off effect plugins while keeping your playback engine, so Sibelius launches fast. Enable all restores your whole library.
- Create your own modes from the current state or from a tag, shown on the dashboard.
Organize and understand your library
- Tags, applied one at a time or in bulk, with search and sorting by name, vendor, format or status.
- Duplicate detection and a disk usage dashboard: total storage, a breakdown by format, and your largest plugins.
- Per-plugin details: vendor, version, architecture, size and location.
Polished, native experience
- A modern, native macOS design with a section-aware background and animated scanning.
- Ten languages, with an in-app language switcher.
- A 14-day trial, with one-time Starter, Pro and Teams licenses.
